Ms. Sterling grew up in San Antonio and put herself through college as a legal secretary.  She received her B.B.A. in General Business from the University of Texas at Austin in 1981.  She was recruited by IBM from the McCombs Business School at UT in 1981.  She worked as a Systems Engineer for IBM in Houston and later in Dallas, Texas until 1988.  After leaving IBM, she worked in sales and customer service for Tiffany and Co. for 3 years in Dallas, Texas.  She missed working in the fast paced technology industry so she went back to the technology industry and worked for Dell Computer Corporation.  Ms. Sterling initially started in Sales with Dell and quickly worked her way up to Global Business Development Manager where she helped Dell and Dell’s largest Fortune 50 Customers with their international computing requirements in over 150 countries around the world.  Ms. Sterling retired from Dell in 2002.  Over the years, she volunteered her time and expertise to numerous charitable organizations including the reading program at Marble Falls Elementary School, teaching yoga to at risk youth at the Phoenix Center in Marble Falls and The Helping Center (food bank) in Round Rock.  She also worked with handicapped children at Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Dallas, seniors at the Senior Center and hosted fund raisers for the Upper Highland Lakes Nature Center outside of Burnet, Texas.  As a Texas Master Naturalist, she spends time at Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge and Inks Lake State Park teaching children and adults about Earth sciences, the ecosystem and even how to fish.

Ms. Sterling was enticed away from retirement and enjoys working as Chief Operating Officer and General Partner for Sterling Appraisal Services.
